DGIM Pastor Monesh

Monesh Mathew was born into a traditional Christian Orthodox home; the youngest of three siblings. He was serving as a Parish clerk in the local Orthodox church. His testimony is an amazing story. In the year 2004, he moved his lodging to Bangalore to pursue his education in Nursing. Towards the last year of his nursing curriculum; he got to hear the word of God. One day one of Pastor’s friends invited him to a Bible study, he had never experienced anything like it before in his life, so he continued there to listen to bible study next five to six weeks, and finally, he accepted Jesus Christ as the personal Saviour and Lord in his life. One other day while he was at the prayer meeting, the Holy Spirit spoke through the prophet ministering that day “You will be a minister of the gospel, You will travel to various places with the gospel & God will use you tremendously”. He was stunned and his friends laughed hearing this, as none from his family had had born born-again experience and he was still serving as a parish clerk in his local church in Kerala. Nonetheless that day from the bottom of his heart, he received what the minister had prophesied over him and said AMEN to all the promises God had given that day and surrendered to God’s will for his life. He got on his knees and committed his life to Christ, the in-depthness of the word of God touched his heart, and realizing the truth of the gospel he got baptized in the year 2007.

Studies have now been completed and he moved back to his hometown in Mavelikara, Kerala. It came to the notice of his family that unlike before he is now not reading the Kowma, not wearing the priestly robe, and not getting onto the Maduvai (Altar). His family understood that he had been baptized, and from there on a lot of complications started to take place at his home. He was kept caged in a room for almost 10 months at his home, with no contact with the outside world. He felt depressed, forsaken, with no one to talk to, but in between all this, the verse from Genesis 28:15 “For I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything I have promised you” strengthened him over and over again.

Obstacles and challenges from family increased day by day. After one year, with so many conditions set by his family; he was granted permission to work at a hospital nearby and was allowed to attend prayers once a month. This consent came with its challenges, some days after he came back from prayer he was not given food and was made to sleep outside along with the dogs. His family tried their best to bring him back to their traditional belief and one fine day they decided to know his final decision so that they could decide If he could continue his stay at home.

That night was the most difficult day of his life, in agony, he cried out to the Lord and the Lord echoed the verse “Who despises a vile person but honors those who fear the Lord; who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and does not change their mind’; Psalms 15:4); this is the voice he heard that night, he quickly woke up and told “my Lord, Monesh did not get baptized to get away from debt or disease, but baptized knowing that your word is the ultimate truth, and declared that night whatever comes my way I will not go back” as soon as he declared this he felt someone coming into his room and covering him with a duvet, the presence of the Lord surfaced the room for 2-3 min and every burden of his heart was lifted and he was eagerly waiting for sunrise to let his family know the decision.

The next day morning in the presence of all his family members he said “What I have done is the right thing and whatever hurt that comes my way I will never change”. They were frustrated with his response and the family situation worsened. He was asked to write on a white paper that he has no claim over any property and does not share anything at home. On that day in the year 2007, he left his home with a bag (2 shirts, 1 trousers and a bible), knowing not where to go and what his future would be. No matter the trials he went through, he held on to the promise of God and moved forward and came back to Bangalore city and stayed in a place called K R Puram. He started working as a Nursing staff, spent a few years in Delhi and Bangalore, and at the same time was involved in public ministry in various parts of India.

In 2013 he got an opportunity to share the good news of Jesus Christ under the supervision and guidance of Pastor Shajan George with a few people and they received Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal savior and were baptized. From there the beginning of Deliverance Church Bangalore and in 2017 it got registered as Deliverance Gospel International Ministries. Today he and his growing church are navigating in the promises that he had heard in his emptiness.
